Understanding your market-data connection

Market Watch 360 is designed to make financial market information easier to see, compare, and understand. Our Windows desktop application brings together stock prices, charts, market breadth, weighted index contributions, and other market intelligence. To provide this information, the application connects to supported third-party market-data services. This page explains how feeds work and what customers should know about data availability, accuracy, and provider requirements.

How it works

Market Watch 360 provides the software and analysis. Market-data availability depends on the supported connection and the customer's applicable data permissions.

Draft — Review Required. Alpaca is the current integration. Additional provider integrations and commercial arrangements must be confirmed before they are described as available.

1. Market Data Providers

Market Watch 360 supports connections to selected third-party market-data providers. Our current desktop integration uses Alpaca. We may add other providers in the future, and supported connections may differ in the securities, exchanges, markets, features, and services they offer.

Adding a new provider does not mean every provider offers identical data or functionality. Customers should review their chosen provider's requirements and the connection options available in their version of Market Watch 360.

Only Alpaca is identified here as a current provider integration. Future providers will be added to product documentation after they are supported and verified.

2. Customer-Provided Market Data

Market Watch 360 is primarily software for displaying and analyzing market information. Customers may need their own account with a supported data provider. Depending on the provider, this may involve:

  • Creating a provider account
  • Obtaining API credentials
  • Accepting the provider's terms
  • Selecting an available market-data plan
  • Maintaining any required subscriptions
  • Meeting applicable exchange-data requirements

Customers are responsible for maintaining access to their selected provider unless a particular Market Watch 360 offer expressly includes it. A Market Watch 360 software license does not automatically include every third-party market-data subscription.

Software licensing and third-party data access are separate. A software license alone does not grant market-data entitlements.

3. Current Alpaca Integration

Market Watch 360 currently integrates with Alpaca for supported market-data functionality. Customers obtain their own Alpaca credentials and enter them into the Market Watch 360 desktop application. Available information depends on the customer's Alpaca account, permissions, subscription, selected feed, and the current provider terms.

Alpaca documents different U.S. equities feeds, including a single-exchange IEX feed and consolidated SIP data. Access, timing, plan eligibility, and other provider details can change. Check Alpaca's official documentation for current information.

IEX Data

IEX is one U.S. stock exchange. A live IEX feed reports activity from that exchange and does not represent every trade or quote across all U.S. exchanges.

SIP Data

SIP refers to consolidated market data reported through U.S. securities information processors. Access to recent consolidated data may require additional provider permissions or a paid provider subscription.

Delayed Data

Some feeds or services provide market information after a stated delay. Delayed information should not be confused with live quotes.

Alpaca controls its available plans, pricing, permissions, feed definitions, and service terms. Those offerings may change independently of Market Watch 360.

4. Future Market Data Providers

Market Watch 360 may integrate with additional third-party providers over time. Future integrations could differ in their supported:

  • Exchanges, indexes, futures markets, securities, or asset classes
  • Real-time, delayed, or historical feeds
  • Connection methods and provider account requirements
  • Data entitlements and subscription plans

Not all data categories or features will be available through every provider. A feature offered through one integration may be unavailable or work differently through another. We may add, change, or discontinue supported integrations as the software evolves. No future provider is represented here as currently available.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid offering, we will address it under the applicable customer terms and legal requirements.

5. Real-Time and Delayed Information

Market Watch 360 is designed to update displayed information as new data becomes available through the customer's selected connection. When a supported live feed is active, prices, calculations, charts, and related market views may update as the provider delivers information.

Real-time does not necessarily mean consolidated data from every exchange. Actual information depends on factors including:

Some information may be delayed or temporarily unavailable. Market Watch 360 does not guarantee that every security, quote, or calculation updates at the same instant. The application identifies the selected feed or data status where supported.

  • Selected provider
  • Market-data subscription and permissions
  • Exchange coverage
  • Market session and network connectivity
  • Feed availability and update frequency
  • Application processing
Live, delayed, historical, stale, and unavailable data are different states. A live feed from one exchange is not the same as consolidated coverage.

6. Different Prices Across Platforms

A price displayed by Market Watch 360 may differ from a price shown by another trading platform. Services can use different exchanges, feeds, trade eligibility filters, quote sources, reporting times, refresh schedules, market sessions, or last-price calculations.

For example, the last reported trade from one exchange may differ from a consolidated last trade. A bid or ask from a single exchange is not necessarily the national best bid or offer. These differences do not automatically indicate a software error. Check the source and coverage of the information being compared.

7. Market Watch 360 Calculations

Market Watch 360 uses available market information to calculate and display analytical measurements. These may include:

  • Market breadth and advancing or declining stocks
  • Weighted stock contributions and index-weight estimates
  • Price and percentage changes
  • Points-per-$1 sensitivity and estimated index-point contribution
  • Stock rankings, market summaries, and weighted index views

Results depend on the underlying data, its timing, the selected stocks, and the calculation methodology. Market Watch 360 analytical values may differ from official index-provider calculations.

An estimated weighted contribution is not a guarantee of an exact official index-point movement.

8. S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, and Dow Jones

Market Watch 360 is designed to help users analyze major U.S. market indexes. These indexes use different weighting methods, so constituent contributions should be interpreted accordingly.

S&P 500

Float-adjusted market-capitalization weighting.

Nasdaq-100

Modified market-capitalization weighting.

Dow Jones Industrial Average

Price weighting across 30 companies.

Market Watch 360 may use relevant ETF holdings or other reference data to estimate constituent weights. Examples include IVV, QQQ, and DIA. ETF holdings are reference sources and may not exactly match official index constituent weights at every moment. Coverage percentages depend on the selected securities and the relevant data snapshot.

A selected basket of 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 securities should not be interpreted as full index coverage unless it includes the complete relevant constituent universe. Market Watch 360 is not represented as an official index calculation or index publication service unless expressly stated.

9. Market Sessions and Data Availability

Financial markets operate on different schedules. Depending on the provider and market, data may be available during:

  • Pre-market trading
  • Regular trading hours
  • After-hours trading
  • Overnight sessions
  • Other sessions supported by the selected connection

Different sessions can have different participation, liquidity, pricing, and reporting characteristics. Some providers offer extended-hours information while others do not. Market holidays, exchange interruptions, provider outages, and scheduled maintenance can also affect availability.

When markets are closed, the application may display previous-session information or other available historical data. Previously received information should not be interpreted as a newly updated live quote.

10. Market Data Fees

Market Watch 360 software licensing and third-party market-data subscriptions are separate services. The current local website preview does not charge a separate Market Watch 360 market-data fee for customers using their own supported provider connection.

Third-party providers may charge for particular feeds, exchange coverage, or account plans. Those fees are set and billed by the provider under its terms. A no-cost provider option may have different exchange coverage, limits, or availability than a paid plan.

If Market Watch 360 later offers a paid data service directly, its price and terms will be disclosed before a customer agrees to purchase it. We do not guarantee that third-party market data will remain free.

A Market Watch 360 software license and a provider's market-data subscription are separate. Review each provider's current fees and data entitlements directly with that provider.

11. API Credentials and Connection Security

Customers enter credentials for supported market-data providers into the Market Watch 360 desktop application. This website does not request or collect customers' Alpaca API keys, and it does not stream customers' Alpaca market data to website visitors.

Market-data credentials and software-license credentials serve different purposes. Any future Market Watch 360 license verification is intended to operate separately and does not need a customer's third-party market-data API secret to confirm a software license.

Customers are responsible for protecting their provider accounts and credentials. Future provider integrations may use different secure connection methods. Any material change to credential handling or server-side processing must be reflected accurately in the Privacy Policy and product documentation.

Your provider API secret belongs in the desktop app's connection flow. The public website does not ask for it or stream your account's market data to visitors.

12. Third-Party Provider Terms

Each market-data provider may have its own terms, exchange agreements, licensing restrictions, and usage requirements. Customers are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to their selected data subscriptions. A provider or exchange may restrict:

  • Redistribution
  • Public display
  • Commercial usage
  • Data sharing
  • Automated extraction
  • Data storage
  • Access by additional users or devices

Permission to view data personally does not necessarily include permission to republish or redistribute it. Confirm that your intended use is permitted under your provider agreements. A Market Watch 360 software license does not override third-party data rights.

13. Reliability and Service Interruptions

Market Watch 360 aims to provide a reliable desktop market-monitoring experience. Data availability can be affected by factors outside our control, including:

  • Internet connection failures
  • Provider outages or exchange interruptions
  • API rate limits
  • Expired credentials or invalid permissions
  • Subscription changes
  • Delayed, incomplete, or corrected data
  • Maintenance or technical failures

During these conditions, some prices, charts, or calculated values may stop updating or become temporarily unavailable. Market Watch 360 does not guarantee uninterrupted data delivery or error-free information.

14. Historical Data and Corrections

Historical information may differ from earlier displayed values because providers can correct, adjust, or update market records. Corporate actions such as stock splits and dividends may affect adjusted price histories. Index constituent weights and compositions may also change.

Historical charts, examples, and calculations should be interpreted according to their date, source, and adjustment methodology. Website screenshots and promotional illustrations may show historical or example values; they are not live market-data feeds.

15. No Trading or Order Execution

Market Watch 360 is display-only analysis software intended to help customers understand market information. It does not place trades or execute orders. Connecting a supported data-provider account does not authorize Market Watch 360 to make trading decisions for the customer.

Users remain responsible for their own trading and financial decisions. Market data and analytical information should not be interpreted as personalized investment advice or a guarantee of future market performance.

16. Provider Changes and Future Development

We may expand Market Watch 360 to support additional market-data providers, financial instruments, and analytical features. New integrations may have different data permissions, prices, availability, and technical requirements.

We will update relevant connection documentation as supported services change. Adding a future provider does not automatically make every current feature available through that provider. Features identified as planned or in development are not guaranteed to be available by a particular date.

17. Questions and Support

For questions about supported providers, API connections, account requirements, or market-data availability, please use the Help & Contact page. For questions about a provider's subscriptions or data entitlements, customers may also need to contact that provider directly.
