What Does Points per $1 Mean?
Points per $1 is an estimated sensitivity: the approximate index-point effect associated with a one-dollar move in a constituent, using the app's reference inputs.
What problem does this solve?
The Points per $1 label on a card needs interpretation.
Quick answer
Pts/$1 estimates the S&P point effect of a hypothetical $1 move in that stock: reference index level × IVV weight ÷ stock price.
Steps
- Read the stock's Pts/$1 label and Index weight in the S&P 500 card.
- Separate a one-dollar stock move from a one-percent stock return; they are different for most prices.
- Read S&P points as an estimate; the fallback reference is SPY's prior daily close × 10 unless a reviewed index reference is available.
What you should see
A sensitivity number helps compare potential index-point effect per stock-price dollar; it does not say the stock actually moved one dollar.
If it still doesn't work
If the number looks inconsistent, record the symbol, reference level, weight or divisor source, and timestamp before contacting support.
