The Application Says Disconnected

Check the app's connection status, local network availability, and whether the Alpaca key pair is still valid. Never paste credentials into support.

Draft

What problem does this solve?

The status strip reports a disconnected data connection.

Quick answer

A disconnected status concerns the provider connection. First check the local network and the desktop app's Alpaca connection dialog; market-closed status is a separate condition.

Steps

  1. Confirm the computer has network access and the app is still running.
  2. Open the desktop Connect → API Key dialog and use Test connection.
  3. Check the selected Alpaca environment and the account's key status without copying secrets into support.
  4. Return to the main status strip to see whether it reports Connected.

What you should see

The connection test either confirms the pair or supplies an error to diagnose; a successful test should be followed by the current app's save/connection flow.

If it still doesn't work

Send a redacted error message, app version, and approximate time to support. Never include the key or secret.
